FAQ

What is the goal of MTÜ Sa Suudad and who are you targeting?

MTÜ Sa Suudad aims to be an engagement, support and advocacy organisation for young people who are or have been exposed to risk behaviour. We want every young person to receive the support they need and to be meaningfully involved in decisions affecting their lives. The foundation of our association is to work with young people to develop and implement support methods for them and to support adults as well.

How do you help young people?

We are currently developing an experienced trustee program. Program objective is to restore young people's faith in themselves and adults through the consistent and caring support of a trusted person, to develop young people's self-regulation skills, which will also help reduce risk behavior. Read more about our program here: https://sasuudad.ee/kup/

Who wrote the messages we show on the website?

The messages have reached us through various young people (aged 12–25) who are engaging in or have engaged in risky behavior.

How does your activity differ from other programs aimed at young people?

Our focus is on a long-term, one-on-one, trusting relationship between a young person and an experienced adult. Our program is developed with young people who have experienced risky behavior and is supported by young people who have experienced risky behavior themselves.

What is your long-term vision?

Our 5-year vision is to be a competence center in the field that supports both young people and their loved ones/families in difficult situations, helps prevent and mitigate risk behavior, and creates opportunities together with young people to achieve better well-being for young people.

We develop support measures for young people, offering early intervention, individual support and community-based solutions. We also offer support for young people’s loved ones and families to help strengthen family relationships and support young people through their loved ones. We support networking by creating connections between different parties to ensure that support meets the needs of young people and is effective. We raise awareness of the needs of young people in society to change public perceptions. We support greater participation and decision-making rights for young people to participate in processes that affect them, including policymaking.
